Our little fish!

This girl loves the water!  We kind of had a hint that Lydia would enjoy swimming as she has always loved her bath.  Well, the first exposure to the cool pool water in the early summer didn't deter her a bit!  She fussed all through getting her suit on and putting on sunscreen (she really wishes I would just skip all that) and then lowering her in to the water makes everything better.  She could just splash and kick and float around all day.  She almost fell asleep in her little floaty ring at Cascade Lake, so we laid her on the sheet and she took her nap.  It was as she was waking up and crossed her legs that we couldn't resist adding the sunglasses and getting a shot of her "lounging" on the sand!  Even in the water park with the fountains and sprayers going everywhere, she just walked right up and put her face in!  It took her a little while to warm up to her first 4th of July parade, but it wasn't long until she was moving to the beat of the bands going by.  We think she enjoyed the fireworks...she didn't cry or close her eyes, but she seemed to watch and kept her arms and legs going the whole time!
Lydia is doing well in her summer school class - she goes three mornings a week.  We've been going through some screaming (no tempers attached, just shrill screaming) issues, and her doctor recommended ignoring since nothing else seemed to be working.  It has gotten some better, and we're hoping it is a good sign toward her interacting with us (trying to get our attention) and attempting to communicate before she has the words to do so.  Her receptive language has increased quite a bit as there are many things that have become obvious that she understands.  We're beginning some sign language and looking into some other ways of augmenting communication.  Her independence in mobility comes and goes depending on whether she wants to walk by herself or not.  Her joy is evident however, as she giggles with her sister and hums Twinklle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves Me.  Our joy is evident as well and she has blessed our lives so much, and we continue to enjoy each day with her.
