What a blessed year we have had! Last Thanksgiving we were waiting for a response from Immigration (we had been waiting since July!), and did not even have our dossier to China yet; this Thanksgiving we have a sweet new family member! In the pictures you can see first her enjoying her new bed and getting used to a new home. Do you get the idea in a couple of those pictures that she is bored with us? She can look so "ho hum" as she leans on her little hand! In the kitchen she is standing by herself and watching her shadow move on the floor. She is standing on her own more and more, and even lifts her legs to walk up steps (with help) but has yet to take a step on her own. I cracked up when I saw her using her little piano for a footstool! I guess that's what she thinks of her musical stimulation! Hannah loves her to death and can't keep her hands off of her, even if Lydia doesn't always want to be hugged so tight!
We did get Lydia's blood test results back and her chromosomes are normal, Praise God!!! All other results were normal as well, other than slightly low Vitamin D which can be treated through her daily vitamin. We are encouraged by so much progress, and we are pleased by the possibilites through early intervention from the school system. She has some more assessments to be done Monday 11/30, and then a few more screenings to be scheduled, but I'm thinking that some services could start as early as late January. She is reaching for us, moving around more, and playing more which seems to indicate that she is becoming more comfortable with all these changes in her life. We have the most tantrums when she can see that her bowl of food is getting empty and she's not happy about that. That leads us to believe that she can see pretty well, and the correct message is getting to the brain that the food is almost finished and she wants more! That's pretty good reasoning! We are more excited each day about the prospects for this special girl God has brought to our family. We thank each of you for all your prayers as you are a big part of our Thanksgiving to God this year! And may He bless you all! Love, Jane

Love the pictures! And love the progress. Thanks for the update! Hope you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud when I saw the pic of Lydia leaning on her hand....She reminds me of every other child on Thanksgiving break...." Mom, I'm bored - what are we going to do now?" Looks like she's settling in just fine. As always, thanks for sharing....Dawn Smith and the crew!
ReplyDeleteWe love those new photos, and are so happy to hear that Lydia is progressing. She just needed so time and a family to love (and love her back)!
ReplyDeleteTalk to you later.
Love,
Deb, Randy and Amelia
