We are blessed!

Happy Resurrection!  Although it is not Resurrection Day any longer we can always celebrate the resurrection!  I can't believe how much time has passed since I last blogged, but it seems to have gone very fast.  On Monday 4/12, we will have been a family of four for 6 months.  Time does fly, and Lydia has tremenendous progress to show for it.  I am constantly amazed at the personality that is emerging from this sweet child.  Others who have adopted told us this would happen, but you never know what to expect, especially with the first time adopting.  Lydia is so funny!  She brightens our day everyday!  She has become so affectionate, especially with Mommy, as she lifts her face for a "kiss" (rubbing lips on cheek or mouth open with tongue out!) far more than the head butts we used to get!  Her "vocal play" (as her teacher calls it) is so fun, as she seems to have a comment on everything in some sound or another.  Her giggles and outright belly laughs are contagious.  She hums tunes, imitates a bear growl, identifies her nose, eyes, mouth and toes by putting your hand in the right spot or moving her face to your finger.  She has mastered drinking from the sippy cup (yea!!) but we're still working on her holding it.  Thanks to her teacher and school program she is walking more by herself again, sometimes thinking an adult is attached to the other end of the theraband, but not really caring once it is dropped and she's on her own.  She tries very hard to feed herself little pasta pick-ups but she needs lots of help.  It's great strides though that she knows there is something in her hand that she wants to get to her mouth!  The picture in the blue sweatshirt with wet hair was the first night of working on feeding herself and most went in her hair!  Although Lydia liked a lot of movement, she did not like the swing anytime that we tried it previous to Easter weekend.  In the unusually warm weather we had over the weekend, she had pure joy in the swing with big smiles, and a bit of a temper fit when it was time to stop!  We love this precious girl so much, and she truly gets more beautiful everyday.  God is so good, we are on a true joy ride where He is driving and we are so blessed to be along for the ride.  Blessings to all!

The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail. Get busy.

  5. She looks so much more lively in these new photos! She's like a butterfly slowly emerging. And it sounds like you're really attaching and embracing being her mom. So happy to hear things are going well and she's coming along! God is good! Love, Petrie
